Women only
You ride with women who love cycling just as much as you do. You leave as a group and come home with new cycling friends.

Sound familiar?
You want to keep your fitness through the winter. But after yet another evening inside on the rollers, or a cold, wet Sunday ride, the fun starts to fade.
And a cycling trip to the other side of the world? It sounds amazing, but also intimidating. Is it too hard? Will I know anyone? Who organizes all the logistics?
That's why we created this trip. Exclusively for Cyclingwomen, everything arranged, and with enough rest to really enjoy it.
A special edition, exclusively for Cyclingwomen.
You ride with women who love cycling just as much as you do. You leave as a group and come home with new cycling friends.
Gravel and quiet asphalt roads through the countryside, away from busy tourist spots. Children shouting “Hi!” along the way.
A rest day with a tea plantation and the famous train ride through the highlands. You finish with a safari and two days at the beach.
Support vehicle nearby, luggage goes ahead, fruit and water on the way, and a mechanic in the group. All you have to do is ride.
The route, day by day
Fly together from Brussels to Negombo. Hotel right by the beach, set up the bikes, and a short shakeout ride.
First along the coast, then inland through coconut territory. Flat, asphalt, and beautiful gravel. Maybe some fresh coconut milk on the way.
Through the countryside to the ancient capital from the Ceylon era, full of temples and stupas.
We seek out the best gravel roads around Anuradhapura and visit the ancient sites from our bikes.
Coconut palms make way for rice paddies. You'll see Lion Rock appearing long before you arrive.
Climb the UNESCO rock at first light. Then 30 km of gravel along canals, staying near Lake Polonnaruwa.
Morning visit to one of the country's highlights, a short ride, and then on to Kandy.
Visit a tea plantation and take the famous train ride through the highlands to Haputale.
The longest and perhaps most beautiful ride. Cinnamon and rubber plantations, a long descent to a large waterfall, water buffaloes, and your first elephants.
One last push through rice fields and sugar cane. Afternoon safari in Udawalawe National Park.
Pack the bikes and move to the west coast at Bentota. Time for rest on the beach.
Sleep in, walk, or do nothing. To the airport in the evening, home the next day.
Can I handle this?
The first week is mostly flat, with rides between 45 and 95 km. Day 10 brings the longest and most beautiful ride: 106 km with a climb and a long descent. You cycle at your own pace, and the support vehicle is never far away.
Doubting? Ask your question, and we'll look at it together.
Who you'll be riding with
Claire will accompany the group throughout the trip. The journey is organized with PlugPlug Travel, specialists in gravel trips worldwide. You'll have a dedicated team by your side along the way.
We fly together from Brussels Airport to Negombo. The return flight usually leaves around midnight.
Your bike travels in a bike box (up to 25 kg, along with your luggage). You'll receive instructions on how to pack it. Locally, only heavier mountain bikes are available for rent.
Double rooms in beautiful, comfortable hotels. Prefer a private room? That's possible for an extra charge.
Breakfast and dinner at the hotel, lunch usually at a local restaurant and sometimes a picnic.
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months during the trip. You arrange the visa online in advance.
About a month before departure, we'll discuss everything together. This is also a great way to meet the group.
As long as the trip is not yet guaranteed, you can rebook free of charge or cancel for a €100 administrative fee.
Applies to Peloton members as long as the trip is “available”. Once there are 6 registrations, the trip is guaranteed and the discount expires.
You book via PlugPlug Travel, a member of the Travel Guarantee Fund. Your paid travel sum is therefore protected.
No, this trip is for all women who love cycling. Club members (Peloton) are the first to hear about it and receive a 5% discount on the trip.
Absolutely! Most women sign up alone. You'll share a double room, or you can choose a private room for a supplement.
The support vehicle joins every ride and is never far away. If you're having a tough day, you can just hop in.
Only heavier mountain bikes are available locally. It's possible, but your own gravel bike rides much better.
